Building a Homemade Weather Radar with a HackRF or PlutoSDR and a Salvaged RV Satellite Dish
Targeting the gap left by NEXRAD's 4–6 minute data latency and 100+ mile radar station distances, the project repurposes a Winegard Carryout Anser GM-5000 RV automatic satellite dome, pairs it with either a HackRF or PlutoSDR, and uses open-source Python software to produce a live color-scaled reflectivity radar display.
